Eyes opened, covers thrown
feet flat on the floor
normal early routine so far
yet, what is this?
A morning surprise!
I found a smile
missing far too long
not the forced one
foggy mirror poorly reflected
no, I found lost treasure
rooted firmly
back home in my heart.
Great poem. This reminds me of how only a few weeks ago, just before drifting off to sleep, I found myself smiling and thinking happy thoughts. It’s been a long time since that has happened. That moment, like this poem, made me feel good about life in general.
