Has anyone criticized for gold on the Ark? How do they do? and where?

I'm taking my 7-year-old daughter on a hunting expedition Arkansas treasure. going to the diamond mine in Mena, then we canoe and gold leaf somewhere, any suggestions, preferably in northern Arkansas

The Ouachita National Forest is open for recreational gold prospecting and Roch harassment. Simply contact the park ranger for permission. Gold is widely scattered but the quartz crystals are abundant. About 12 miles SW of Hot Springs has been a considerable amount of gold found.
