Afganistan: out on a limb ?

We read the horrific fact that on top of the 191 brave British soldiers who have now been killed in Afghanistan, no less than a further 51 have lost limbs. We also read the paltry sums offered out by our government for our brave young men who have been injured for life – £570,000 for the loss of both legs, £402,500 for the loss of one. These amounts may sound significant if taken as a lump sum, but when one considers that these amounts have to last that young soldier over the course of a lifetime that may result in considerable periods of unemployment or low income, one realises just how paultry such sums are given the sacrefice involved.

the sums of money “given” to our young soldiers is a joke. they will be unable to claim any benefits while they have this paltry amount of money in their possession. they will be unable to get work and unable to claim unemployment benefits. they will get nothing until their big time payout is spent. . so….. they get dole money from day one.
