How To Find Treasures At Thrift Stores
Thrift store hidden treasures?
My daughter found a purse at the thrift store for $18 dollars. It turned out to be an authentic designer label worth $675 !!!
She also found $20 in a pair of $3 pants before…
Any tips on how to find more hidden treasures? What to look for etc… would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Thank you!
I’d go in with a list of brands you know are good ones to look for. I bought 2 Dooney & Burke purses for a total of $5 bucks. I don’t like them; they’re ugly. But they consigned nicely, and I made $56 off them! I look for stuff to consign at the teen consignment shop here (American Eagle, Forever 21, etc.), and for stuff to consign at the household consignment shop. I LOVE thrift store shopping and am glad to see my 14-year old beginning to get bitten by the bug! It truely is treasure hunting! My favorite stuff is Baby Gap and anything Cold Water Creek. I also recommend hitting the thrift stores in the nicer (read: “wealthier”) parts of town, as the donations are far, far better. I also shop on Monday after people have dropped off their weekend closet cleaning junk. Another thrift store in town (Value Village if you have one), marks most of the items with different colored tags, staggered according to the dates they were dropped off. The colored tags that have been in the store longest are 50% and 75 % off, and they change the tags that are on sale every Sunday. I shop in there on Sunday or Monday as soon as the new sale colors are displayed before everyone has had a chance to pick all the good stuff out.
