The PADI Open Water Diver course teaches the basics of scuba diving. You will learn about all your diving equipment and how it is prepared correctly, and all basic two diving and don'ts. Successful completion, you will receive an Open Water Diver card and a number of diving – the key to the exciting and challenging world diving. With this under your belt, you can rent snorkeling gear and content of your heart (within the parameters of safety, of course!) And need not sit a single test most, if not desired. Most divers, however, are connected by this stage, and progress for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver providing the training needed to dive to greater depths.

The PADI Open Water Diver lasts 3 to 5 days. It teaches the skills necessary to you can plan and diving up to 18 meters. You can find it all a little intimidating at first, but it's surprising to learn quickly. It is prepared like a pro in no time!

There are two parts in the course: practice and knowledge. You will need to invest in a PADI Open Water Crew Pack. This manual contains PADI, which contains everything you need to know about diving and scuba diving equipment. You will also receive a table of diving (dive planning) and the logbook to record all the dives. Some packages of the crew also have a PADI Open Water DVD – a useful learning aid. You may carry out the section of knowledge your PADI online course before starting their practical training. Ideally, however, must take the knowledge and practical at the same time. No, after all, take your driving theory test without sitting behind the wheel direction.

The practical part of the course will consist of five sessions confined water, followed by four open water dives – where the fun really begins! Some of the practical skills they learn include:

• The buoyancy control
• Removal Kit and refit
• Towing tired diver
• Emergency swimming controlled ascent
• Using a compass (on land and underwater)

You must be at least 10 years of age for the PADI Open Water Diver. There is no maximum age limit. You will be able to swim 200 meters without aid (or 300 meters with fins and snorkel) and tread water for ten minutes. Given the pool average is about 25 feet long, this equates to about 8 lengths (no stops). You will need to complete a health questionnaire before their training. If you have an existing medical condition, this does not necessarily preclude you from diving. If you have any health concerns would be prudent visit your doctor before talking about them, and, if necessary, obtain a confirmation of his fitness. This can save the hassle and expense of a medical examination once you get into the station.
