Getting my first metal detector, help!?

Im getting this metal detector: http://www.amazon.com/Bounty-Hunter-VLF-Metal-Detector/dp/B0001654J0. Sounds like a metal detector. I have some questions: Is it a good metal detector? Is there anything else you need, plus the batteries? Any advice for me? I'll be mostly using the metal detector on beaches, in the woods in my backyard. Additionally, you can locate a plastic detector metals? I know this is an absurd idea because it's called metal detector, but not now. Thanks ahead of time!

First, no, a metal detector not detect plastic. As for quality, and read comments about the site as the link. Many of them are not good reviews. As for my opinion, I do for a young person, but if you want a serious metal detector does not think it will fill the bill. Simply, it costs enough to be a quality device.
