economic metal detector?

to move through the forest. I've heard attic is a good brand. but what about Radio Shack? I lost my keys in the forest. but I would also like to find the relics and treasures as well;) and have about 6 inches of snow. do metal detectors work in the snow like this?

Interestingly, most of the treasures found on the beach (across the sand not snow) was in 1965 in New Zealand, and was made using a fisherman detector metal prices. therefore reduces to the case, then most impressive of planning.
