Metal Detecting Finds Metal Detectors

Any way to cover metal so a metal detector can’t detect it?

Is there anyway that a metal detector can’t locate a piece of metal.

Explanation: I’m burying a time capsule and not opening it for 10 years, the chest I’m burying everything in has metal on it and I don’t want anyone to dig it up if they find it with a metal detector. Help???

I would guess that if you bury it deep enough, it could evade a metal detector. However, I’m not sure how exactly metal detectors work.

What you should be doing is thinking about what kind of place you want to bury it. Generally, the only place you see people with metal detectors is at the beach, which is a pretty lousy place to bury something anyway. Some people use metal detectors on their lawns, but 1) the chances of that anywhere are very low, and 2) you shouldn’t bury anything in someone else’s property, or on your own property that you plan on selling.
