Lost Treasures Not Found
Is this poem good poetic advice, or not?
When
speaking words of wisdom
in poetry
do not whisper
them….
as sand slipping
through fingers,
they will be lost,
nor bellow them out,
for they will deafen.
Let them be twisted
just so,
forcing the reader
to dig deeper,
believing the
buried treasure
found within
was left solely
for them.
The word ‘twisted’ has a bit of a negative connotation – how about ‘moulded’ or ‘shaped’ – even better – ‘fashioned’? Also, perhaps ‘helping’, ‘leading’ or ‘encouraging’ (instead of forcing) the reader?
