I hate life here at boarding school. It is cold, and terrible! I know you think I will be safe here, but I miss you too much. Yesterday I had an encounter with a German officer. We were playing a game of capture the treasure in the woods and I got lost. Fortunately I was able to find a friend Julienne so I wasn’t alone.

Je déteste la vie au pensionnat. Il fait froid c’est épouvantable ! Je sais que vous pensiez que je serais bien ici mais vous me manquez beaucoup. Hier j’ai rencontré (affronté (a fight)) un officier allemand. Nous jouions à un jeux de chasse aux trésors dans les bois et je me suis perdu(e). Heureusement j’ai réussi à trouver un ami Julienne donc je n’étais plus seul(e).
