I’m writing a novel on pirates. Except i have a problem i cant think of a good legend for treasure. You know like in Pirates of the Caribbean Sea there was the cursed aztec gold. what kind of legend should my Treasure have? its called the lost treasure of Antarosesy… plz help
it is most likly to be called Pirates!

Two ideas for you, since I am a scholar of pre-columbian history (pre-Columbus)

1. When Hernan Cortez invaded the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan in 1519, he held the Emperor Moctezuma captive for several weeks. This gave his men time to collect a LOT of golden items. When the Aztec citizens killed their own leader, and attacked the Spaniards, the conquistadors were forced to flee the island city by way of narrow bridges to the mainland. Many men died and sank to the bottom of the lake weighted down by heavy gold inside their armor.
What happened to all that gold at the bottom of Lake Texcoco??

2. When Francisco Pizzaro invaded Peru in 1531? he held the Inca Emperor Atahualpa captive in the town of Cajamarca. Pizarro demanded a ransom from the Peruvian population; they had to fill a large room with gold, and another with silver, up to a line drawn by his sword, HIGH on the wall. The peasants proceeded to bring gold and silver from all around the Empire. They eventually filled the rooms, but Atahualpa was “garroted” (a horrible way to die, strangled), on August 29, 1533.
However, news of the assassination spread quickly, and thousands of peasants, still bringing their gold, did not proceed to Cajamarca, but HID THE GOLD in the mountains, never to be found.
Where is this gold today?????

There you go. Please give me credit in one small footnote for the idea.
