How To Find Treasure In Your Backyard

By admin, January 30, 2008 2:37 am

I have never done a treasure hunt before, but would like to do one for my grandkids.?

I need help. Any suggestions for young kids between 5-8 years old for a treasure hunt in my backyard? They can be helped by adult family members, but would like them to have a really fun time searching for something & then finding a treasure of something for each of them. I’ve never done one of these or a scavenger hunt & really need some ideas of how they are done. Any one who has done one for a party ……I’d appreciate your input. Thanks so much. I want to make a special summer memory before the kids go back to school.

hi my name’s blaze. My brothers and their friends used to make up treasure hunts for me all of the time. Here is how one of them went-the one that was most memorable.
They started by showing me a clue Example: next clue is under the front porch. They would lead me around all over the place and finally i would get to the last clue. example: the thing which you seek may be found…… (it’s also a cool, sneaky way of introducing them to new words:-) For little kids you have to keep it simple or else they will get bored, but you also have to make it challenging enough so that they will really enjoy their prizes. One of the best ways to hide a treasure that they are looking for is bury it under about 1 foot of soft soil.) Protect the prize by wrapping it in a regular store plastic bag. The last clue shouldn’t tell them the exact spot where it is buried but the estimated place. (no more then 2 feet from the actual place) Whatever you decide to do it will be brilliant just let your imagination run wild!
