Why is my new kitten playing ….?
in the litter box? He jumps in and plays in the litter, flinging it everywhere. Then doesn’t use the box. I’m ready to throw a shovel and a few buckets in there and watch him go crazy 
He did use the box this morning…..then got very excited when he found the “treasure” he left in there. He pulled it out and starting batting it around the floor.
Any clue on how to get kitty to stop playing with his poo. We are cleaning the box regularly, but there will be days when I’m at work and I prefer not to have to hunt for treasure when I get home.
My cat did similar things and out grew it. You kitten will too. The best thing you can do to stop this play, have an odourless box and keep it all neat is to purchase a closed box. Mine looks like a cat travel case. It has a handle on the top and a large flap style door on the front. They have a Charcoal filter on the top and the lid comes off for cleaning. It’s a private potty and that’s nice if you don’t have a more private location to keep the box. Good investment.
