“Gospel Enigma” question 3. Why are ministers emphasizing blood for sin?

I appears to me that Jesus had other things he wanted to emphasize. Sermon on the Mount was a very big sermon… and the emphasis there was… that we must change and go through a transformation… and that we are forgiven of our sins when we forgive others. Nothing about blood for sin in that sermon.

Sacrifice was common in the time of Jesus. What Paul’s theology held was that Jesus was the last sacrifice that god needed. This was, in part due, to the problems of an underground church conducting sacrifices and, in part, designed to distinguish the christian church from others.

I have no idea why modern christians would believe that their god actually required blood.
